Poll finds opposition to marriage equality declining

Opposition to legal marriage for same-sex couples now stands at 53% among U.S. adults, according to a report by Gallup, tying the all-time low for such opposition. The report found that 44% of Americans support marriage equality. "Over time, Americans have become more accepting of legal same-sex marriage, and a growing number of subgroups now show majority support for it," noted a statement by Gallup, which has been reporting on public acceptance of marriage equality since 1996.
