Survey: Climate-change spending is on the rise at global companies

Seven of every 10 of the world's largest companies intend to boost spending on programs meant to mitigate the effects of climate change, according to a report by Ernst & Young. Almost 50% of executives polled at 300 companies in 16 countries voiced their intention to invest at least 0.5% of their revenue in steps such as energy efficiency, the report added. Executives at 63% of the responding companies said they planned to increase the transparency of their reporting on environmental performance, such as energy use and carbon emissions.
