Open-source platform supports a unified app delivery to TV

A community of open-source developers managed by the Linux Foundation is preparing to launch a platform as early as next month that will support the creation of a unified set-top box for handling a combination of services such as pay TV, applications, video and other content. As an open-source solution, MeeGo Smart TV 1.2 will support applications from a variety of developers, in contrast to similar projects from Sony and Vizio, which work only on their own sets.
