S.C. House approves passage of immigration bill

The South Carolina House of Representatives has passed an anti-illegal-immigration measure that would allow local law enforcers to verify the citizenship of people when questioning them. The mandate penalizes people who provide protection or employment to illegal immigrants. If the House and Senate versions of the bill are reconciled, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is slated to sign the bill into law.
