This year's storm season could hurt insurers' earnings, experts say

P/C insurers incurred hefty insured losses from recent catastrophes and could lose more of what's left of their earnings if a major hurricane hits the country in this year's storm season, according to industry analysts. "If there are significant losses this season then buybacks or derivatives will be the first casualty," said Meyer Shields, an expert with Stifel Nicolaus.
