Reaching Out to SMBs Online

According to a recent survey conducted on behalf of the Small Business Association (SBA), 27% of all US small and medium businesses do not have access to the Internet. Of those SMBs that are able to go online, 58% connect to the Internet via some kind of broadband connection, while the remaining 38% still use a dial-up connection. For online marketers, this means that in order to reach the broadest number of SMBs, they need to consider that a significant portion of their target audience may still not be ready to receive rich media ads, or visit graphics-rich websites that take too much time to download. With Jupiter Research recently reporting that 49% of businesses are planning two to four major development initiatives during 2004, it is important to remember that not everyone has passed over to the broadband world. www.emarketer.com
