Firms hire lenders as book runners to protect access to capital

Companies are hoping to strengthen their relationships with their lenders by hiring them as book runners when they issue debt or equity securities. "It makes perfect sense. Clients are trying to preserve important relationships with many of their lenders," said Richard Zogheb, Citigroup's co-head of capital markets origination for the Americas.
