NBCTs band together in Mississippi to lobby for pay

National Board Certified Teachers in Mississippi called on lawmakers Tuesday to fully fund NBCT stipends of $6,000 per year that have been considered for cuts. Joe Cargile, a middle-school teacher, said the country's economic recession makes this a bad time to consider pay cuts for teachers. "The bottom line is, we went over and above to make ourselves better," said Tammy Bragg, a third-grade teacher.
