U.K. professor turns fryer oil into biofuel

A professor at England's John Moores University has developed a process for using microwaves to turn used oil from deep fat fryers into a workable biofuel. Ahmed al-Shamma says wide use of the process could reduce the pressure on developing nations to grow fuel crops instead of food. He also notes that his process generates less waste and is cheaper than traditional methods of making biofuels.
