The board that controls New York's Whitney Museum of American Art announced Tuesday that it will invest $680 million into a major expansion that will not only alter the size and scope of the institution but will also involve construction of a new building in Manhattan's meatpacking district. "A year from now, we will be breaking ground," said Adam Weinberg, director of the museum.
