Columbia River dam to receive $120M upgrade

The Chief Joseph Dam on the Columbia River in Washington state will receive a $120 million upgrade to allow it to generate additional power. Workers will install a 45-ton turbine at the hydropower dam, which generates enough power for the city of Seattle, as part of the multi-year upgrade. Approximately 40% of low-cost power in the Northwest comes from hydropower dams.
