Heart disease is a common cause of death in captive gorillas

Gordy, a captive gorilla at the Como Park Zoo in Minnesota, recently died of cardiovascular disease, a common affliction among captive primates in North America. According to experts, 40% of captive gorilla deaths over the past three decades were linked to heart disease, and the majority of those that died were male and older than 30.
