Marathon Oil curbs 2010 shale-drilling plans

Weaker natural gas prices have prompted Marathon Oil to trim drilling plans in shale formations this year. Marathon seeks to drill up to five wells in the Marcellus Shale, compared with an earlier estimate of 10. The company also intends to drill as many as three wells in the Haynesville and Bossier formations, down from an earlier outlook of four.
