The French government has halted its latest search for the black boxes from Air France Flight 447, leading to criticism from safety advocates and victims' families. "For the sake of aviation safety, we need to find out what happened in those final 14 minutes to know if something can be done to prevent this from happening again," said the leader of one group. Since the Airbus A330 disappeared over the Atlantic on June 1, 2009, search efforts have cost some $37 million.
