The Clean Air Task Force and Friends of the Earth are suing the Environmental Protection Agency over its renewable-fuel standard. The lawsuit, according to reports, says that by forcing America to rely more on biofuels, the EPA is ensuring that the world's use of oil will increase. The suit's logic, though, is raising eyebrows in the ethanol industry. "By this tortured logic, any effort that environmental activists support to reduce America's reliance on oil would be responsible for lowering U.S. oil demand, reducing global oil prices and inciting increased consumption somewhere else in the world," said Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association. "It simply doesn't pass the sniff test."
