Some tips for growing roses in containers

Roses can thrive in a potted container as long as they are provided the proper conditions, writes Richard Poffenbaugh. He suggests choosing a hybrid tea as the largest rose bush or a floribunda for the smallest. A larger pot works better for growing the rose, and a combination of half of a soilless mix and half organic materials should be added, Poffenbaugh notes. A 2-inch layer of mulch or organic matter should later be applied on top of the soil to help conserve moisture.
