API's Felmy seeks development of a sound energy policy

The U.S. needs an energy policy that educates Americans on where the country obtains its sources, such as fossil fuels, and how they are used, said John Felmy, the American Petroleum Institute's chief economist. Fossil fuels currently account for 80% of the country's energy needs, with oil making up more than 94% of transportation fuel. These facts need to be cited to help the average consumer understand the reality of energy, Felmy added.
