Bayer's materials unit is investing to boost China sales, exec says

Bayer MaterialScience's Chinese manufacturing facilities are aimed at riding the country's fast-growing demand for polycarbonate and polyurethane systems. One such facility is a design center and systems house in Chongqing. "The industries traditionally in Shanghai and Guangzhou have built new capacity in Chongqing. We follow our customers, which then helps us spread to local manufacturers," said Rainer Rettig, head of Bayer's Asia Pacific polycarbonate division.
