Morgan Stanley takes the leap into social media

Morgan Stanley is testing a program that would allow its financial advisers to connect with clients using Twitter and LinkedIn -- and Facebook could eventually be included. That makes Morgan the first major Wall Street institution to let advisers post social updates and messages, rather than simply profiles. "Everyone is afraid of regulations ... [but] when one of the big firms says we're going to do it, it definitely creates an environment that says, 'What's a responsible way to do it?,' " marketing expert Stacey Haefele says.
