A middle-school math teacher suggests educators study the way Lady Gaga has been able to harness the power of the Internet to bond with her fans. Jose Vilson writes that the partial secret to the singer's success is that her fans feel they inspire her music and that their interactions -- on fan pages, Twitter and other sites -- matter to her. The lesson for teachers, Vilson writes, is the importance of giving students the freedom to express themselves online and interact directly with teachers.
