Insurer offers ways to help government save $540B in health costs

The government could save $540 billion in future medical costs over a decade if it makes changes to the country's health care system, including cutting hospital readmission rates and allowing Medicare to use "overlays" from private health insurers to help patients choose their physicians, according to a report by UnitedHealth Group. The health insurer plans to hand over its recommendations to Congress and the White House.
