BIS says banks are shifting to rely more on local funding

A report by the Bank for International Settlements shows that the financial crisis, specifically the lack of liquidity, prompted banks worldwide to reappraise their funding methods. Financial institutions are slowly shifting toward local funding, according to the report, and regulatory reforms could further spur the change.
