Column: South Carolina nonprofit expands sustainable concepts

Rick Huffman, a landscape architect from South Carolina, has expanded his nonprofit Native Plant Society, which focuses on developing sustainable-plant communities, to five chapters statewide. Huffman's goal is to create and design landscapes, using native plants, that will evolve into a healthy environment. Huffman works on big projects with the National Forest Service and municipalities but also establishes many of the same principles for homeowners.
