Continental, United chiefs tout proposed merger to Senate panel

United Airlines CEO Glenn Tilton and Continental Airlines CEO Jeff Smisek told members of a Senate panel that their proposed merger would improve job security for its employees and expand consumer-travel options. The airline chiefs were aiming to allay concerns about the tie-up, which would create the largest airline in the world by traffic.
