Expert calls for improved medical device registries in U.K.

The U.K. needs to develop better registers that will track the use of medical devices and procedures, according to a report written by Bruce Campbell, a professor and chairman of an advisory panel at the country's National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence. "Once CE marked, devices can enter widespread use without any organised monitoring of the outcomes of their use. Long term outcomes of implanted devices are a particular concern," Campbell wrote.
