Feds say Gulf oil spill exceeds Exxon Valdez incident

The amount of oil that has leaked from BP's well in the Gulf of Mexico has surpassed the 1989 Exxon Valdez incident, according to U.S. Geological Survey findings. An estimated 260,000 barrels of oil had spilled by May 17, exceeding the 257,000 barrels that leaked from an Exxon tanker off of Alaska's coast in 1989, the findings showed.
