Florida earns union support for second-round grant bid

Florida has the support of 54 local teachers' unions as well as the leaders of the Broward school district -- the second-largest district in the state -- in its second-round bid for $700 million in federal Race to the Top grants. The state finished in fourth place with its first-round application, which was endorsed by just five local unions and did not have buy-in from Broward schools.
