Tate & Lyle drops plans for Iowa ethanol plant

British grain processor Tate & Lyle has abandoned plans to complete its 100 million-gallon-capacity ethanol plant in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Tate & Lyle suspended plant construction in 2009 amid a slump in the ethanol sector. "The continued depressed and volatile outlook for ethanol, and uncertain conditions in industrial starch and corn gluten feed markets, do not provide any basis to complete and commission the plant," the company said.
