Louisiana science education law withstands repeal effort

An attempt to overturn Louisiana's science education law failed Thursday, despite support from scientists, educators and others who say the current law allows for the teaching of biblical creation in the classroom. Supporters of the current law -- adopted after it was pushed by an influential conservative Christian group -- say it allows teachers to supplement textbooks with information about evolution and global warming.
