The social media struggle in education

Kentucky's education department recently launched a Facebook page and a Twitter account to help disseminate information. The launch came just as a Texas school district decided to shut down its Facebook page because of concerns over liability issues and the amount of staff time needed to maintain the site. These events highlight how states, districts and schools are struggling to develop policies on how social media tools should be used in education, one expert said.
