TweetDeck deal may signal Twitter becoming less open

Twitter's acquisition of TweetDeck is a sign that the company is going to start pushing for a more unified vision of the network, Josh Bernoff writes. The network will introduce features that are optimized for its first-party platforms, creating an incentive for marketers to focus their efforts on those platforms, Bernoff predicts. "Twitter, which has been a very open system, will increasingly become one where the important interactions are controlled by the company," he writes.
