Business considers paying college tuition for interns

German manufacturer Bosch Rexroth has a North Carolina plant that employs some high-school interns, and if the students work well and demonstrate the intelligence and skill to remain valuable employees, the company will consider moving them into an apprentice role, complete with a paid college program for students to advance their skills. Such partnerships between schools and employers, and the apprentice programs that can emerge from those relationships, represent a European model some educators say should expand in the U.S.
