Career academies give students a taste of the future

There are about 4,800 high schools in the U.S. with at least one career academy, and more students are turning to them as a way to better prepare for college or a career. Students who enter such programs do better on standardized tests, are less likely to take remedial classes and become more familiar with their field of interest, says Ashley Parker, spokeswoman for the Association for Career and Technical Education.
