Help from birds yields camera-toting micro ornithopter

Challenging students who are willing to try something even if they think it's impossible led to the development of the world's smallest camera-carrying ornithopter, the 3-gram DelFly. Research by the Netherlands' David Lentink also benefited from close wind-tunnel observation of the wings of swifts that revealed key advantages afforded by the bird's extraordinary ability to vary its wing shape.
