How to help boost the enjoyment of reading in the classroom

Teachers should focus on making reading fun in the classroom and recognize that they can't control reading that takes place at home, elementary-school principal Peter DeWitt writes. In this blog post, DeWitt offers three suggestions to improve student enjoyment, such as creating a literacy-rich classroom environment with books focused on student interests. "We need to get away from the idea that we have to constantly assess reading, and we should focus more on making reading fun," he writes.
