Texas House, Senate cement opposition to Medicaid expansion

The Texas House and Senate settled on a measure to prevent the expansion of the state's Medicaid program. The proposal is an amendment to an earlier bill and says the state "may only provide medical assistance to a person who would have been otherwise eligible for medical assistance or for whom federal matching funds were available under the eligibility criteria for medical assistance in effect on December 31, 2013." The amendment was sent Sunday to Republican Gov. Rick Perry, who has opposed expansion.
