Uniqlo parent sides with US retailers on Bangladesh pact

Japan-based Fast Retailing has declined to join European rivals H&M and Inditex in signing a binding five-year accord to improve factory conditions and safety in Bangladesh. Instead, the parent of Uniqlo has opted to follow US retailers including Wal-Mart and Gap in instituting its own safety plans for the garment manufacturers it hires.
