Google gives programmers a peek at Android

Google gave developers their most extensive peek yet into its new open-source mobile operating system dubbed Android. The system, which will eventually run on mobile phones from some 34 manufacturers, includes novel features including a compass that orients the user via an onscreen map, a password-free unlocking system and even a version of the classic video game "Pac-Man."
