SEC may propose new rules for credit-rating agencies

The Securities and Exchange Commission may propose new rules for nationally recognized credit-rating agencies at a June 11 meeting. The disclosure by Chairman Christopher Cox comes after last week's request by the SEC for descriptions of ratings errors found by Moody's Investors Service, Standard & Poor's and Fitch Ratings in internal investigations. SEC officials declined to discuss the specifics of the proposed rules.
