Storm pushes Louisiana dam to breaking point, officials say

A dam holding back a 2,000-foot retention pond in Mandeville, La. is on the verge of collapse, according to public works officials. A storm that dumped seven inches of rain in one hour caused gaps between the land and the weir, and the dam's wall has started to crumble, they note.
