Art helps African students learn geometry, trigonometry

Students in South Africa are learning about math by studying the symmetry and proportion of paintings by local artists. "We want to show where math applies in their lives," said Thandi O'Hagan, education officer at Sci-Bono Discovery Center in Johannesburg. "We want to demonstrate that there is not an abstract connection between math and art but a real connection."
