Expedia permanently waives booking fee for airline tickets

Online travel giant Expedia says its fee-free promotion for airline tickets booked on the site will become permanent. The move is seen as a challenge to the airlines' own booking engines, which have benefited in the past from fees charged by Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity. Studies have shown that nearly one-third of customers who research airfares through online agencies eventually book their travel through airline sites.
