Colorado researchers create mouse model for chronic wasting disease

Chronic wasting disease attacks animals native to the western U.S., including deer, elk and moose, with symptoms similar to those of mad cow disease. In the June issue of The American Journal of Pathology, scientists led by Colorado State University veterinarian Edward Hoover detail their creation of a mouse model and how it may help better understand the ways the disease is transmitted.
