FCC to set broadband plan in motion as telecoms turn to Congress

The FCC said Thursday that it would begin the process June 17 of implementing its proposed broadband regulation by calling for public comment on its plans. But much of the action has shifted to Congress, where telecoms are gearing up for a possible rewrite of the 1996 Telecom Act. "There's a recognition that this needs to be addressed at the congressional level and not at the commission," said Christopher Guttman-McCabe, CTIA-The Wireless Association®'s vice president of regulatory affairs.
