Suspected horse slaughter in Florida county is confirmed by police

Police in Miami-Dade County, Fla., confirmed that the meat found in an abandoned van in the area came from a horse slaughtered by poachers and that the meat likely was supposed to be sold on the black market. The horse carcass was found by police on Wednesday. This is the first confirmed case of horse slaughter in months since authorities increased efforts to end the practice.
