$2.3M suit by Kan. residents alleges contamination from ruptured pipeline

Homeowners in Andover, Kan., are seeking $2.3 million in damages from a Texas company that they say has refused to remediate soil and water contamination after a 1990 pipeline rupture. NuStar Pipeline Operating Partnership, which has owned the pipeline since 2005, said residents haven't demonstrated that the company was at fault for the contamination. Tests by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment found contamination in neighborhood wells several times in the past decade, according to the lawsuit, which is slated to come to trial in 2014.
