America's tea boom likely to continue as more chains come aboard

Hot tea sales are up 18% at outlets such as Starbucks, and wholesale ready-to-drink tea sales have grown 58% to $3.8 billion in six years. Sweet iced tea, though once considered strictly a southern specialty, has been introduced nationwide at McDonald's and Burger King, among other chains. Starbucks may expand the tea category further when it starts advertising Shaken Peach Green Tea Lemonade through BBDO in time for summer sales.
