API seeks lengthier comment period for EPA emission rules

The public comment period for draft vehicle emissions rules that will mandate refiners to significantly reduce the sulfur content of gasoline will be extended by 18 days, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. "We think EPA still is not allowing for a reasonable period for public participation," said Patrick Kelly, a senior policy adviser with API. "This is one of the most complicated rules EPA has ever issued."
