Calif. high-school students visit traveling memorial to learn Vietnam War history

Woodland High School teachers Erica Chung and Mike Owens organized a recent field trip to the traveling replica of the Vietnam War Memorial Wall, a visit intended to increase understanding of the war. Students found names of relatives, read the names of military service members who died during the war, and listened as veterans shared their stories and answered questions. "Our students cannot get this level of understanding the impact of wars from reading our history textbook," Owens said.
