Calif. HOA members help save 151 acres of redwood trees

Members of the Redwoods Meadows Ranch HOA in Bonny Doon, Calif., helped save a swath of old-growth and second-growth redwood trees from being harvested by arranging for the purchase of the trees' timber rights. The buyout, spearheaded by the nonprofit Sempervirens Fund and the HOA, saves more than 151 acres of redwoods and protects Mill Creek, a source of drinking water for the nearby town of Davenport.
